GAPSA Leadership
Ludwig Zhao
President
Ludwig Zhao is a sixth-year Ph.D. candidate in bioengineering. His research interest situates at the intersection between neuroscience and engineering: his current research is to explore different magnetic resonance imaging techniques to better understand human olfaction.
Since joining Penn, he has been an active member of GAPSA — first as a representative from his home school, SEAS, and later as Chair of the Research Student Council, where he has consistently advocated for and voiced the concerns of his constituents. He is also deeply involved in both the Graduate Student Engineering Group (GSEG) and the Graduate Association of Bioengineers (GABE), serving as a board member for each.
While he is not particularly into anything, he is curious about almost everything and remembers the most random facts. He is also very good at spotting cute local bars and speakeasies so he can bring all his friends (and you) over :)
GAPSA represents over 18,000 graduate and professional students and serves as their collective voice. The organization is built around three core pillars: advocacy, funding, and programming. One of GAPSA’s major goals this year is to improve how we listen to, represent, communicate with, and advocate for our constituents.
