GAPSA Leadership

Soham Kavathekar

Deputy Director of
President

Hey there! I’m Soham Kavathekar — a first-year Master’s student in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering at Penn and the Deputy Director to the President for GAPSA.

I’m deeply passionate about sustainable energy technologies, molecular simulations, and process optimization. My goal is to bridge research and real-world applications that contribute to cleaner, more efficient solutions for the future. As part of GAPSA, I’m excited to help strengthen collaboration across Penn’s graduate community, encourage transparent communication, and support initiatives that make student life more engaging and inclusive.

Beyond academics, I’m an unapologetic coffee addict — you’ll probably catch me exploring Philly’s cafés, trying out new brews, or discovering hidden food gems around the city. I love exploring new restaurants and soaking in the creative energy that Philly has to offer.

When I’m not in the lab or on a caffeine-fueled café hunt, I’m usually watching anime or discussing storylines and character arcs with friends (yes, I can talk about it for hours!). For me, the best part of Penn life is meeting people with unique perspectives — so feel free to reach out if you ever want to chat about sustainability, GAPSA initiatives, or the best espresso in town!
