Sofia Castelli

Director of Academic Programming

Sofia Castelli is a third-year PhD student of Biomedical Graduate Studies in the Pharmacology graduate group at Perelman School of Medicine. Her role in GAPSA is the Director of Academic Programming. She is originally from Uruguay, where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. She worked at a pharmaceutical company as a chemist for three years, and then moved to the US with a Fulbright scholarship to study a Master's in Drug Discover and Development at Drexel University. She then started her PhD studies at Penn in Carl June's lab, and her work is focused on engineering CAR T cell therapies to improve their efficacy for the treatment of solid tumors.

The Division of Academic Programming aims to host academic events, along with the education of the University, to help the students become global leaders in their fields of study.
