The Arena Summit organizes and energizes up-and-coming civic leaders from across the country. Arena is a networking and training opportunity that would be valuable to Penn graduate students interested in activism, community organizing, or public policy. In addition to getting training in 2018 midterm organizing, social entrepreneurship, and activism through performance, Arena attendees will listen to a rockstar lineup of speakers, including industrial engineer-turned candidate for PA’s 6th Congressional district, Chrissy Houlahan, former senior adviser to President Obama, Dan Pfeiffer, and former mayor of New Orleans, Mitch Landrieu. In Philadelphia, “love can be an act of resistance.”
Dates: September 7-8
Location: PA Convention Center, 1101 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107
How to register: https://thearena.run/philadelphia
***Use the code "GAPSA" for $10 off registration!***

Come train to be a Penn Franklin, a peer supporter to the graduate student community at Penn. We offer short-term, confidential peer support and referral services to any member of the Penn graduate community.
Graduate students face unique stressors, different from the undergraduate population. In this workshop, attendees will learn the skills to provide effective peer support for those in their community, with hands on practice at actively listening, validating emotions, reflecting on problems, and how to refer others to external resources when necessary.
The event will take place from 1-5 pm at Irvine G7. Food will be provided! Contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
