MEANINGFUL SCORING: STAR RATING vs RAW vs ALL
Each category, question or landlord has a star rating that reflects how they compare to ALL surveys for the current date period. For example, a landlord may score a RAW average of 4.54 but that will not necessarily yield an excellent 5 star RATING. The star RATING reflects the comparison of the RAW average to the average of ALL surveys using some fraction of the standard deviation. For example, if the ALL surveys average is 3.5662, with st. dev. 1.4082, you actually need a RAW average of ~4.63 or higher for a 5 stars RATING.
Basically, you should interpret the RATING as Poor, Fair, Average, Good or Excellent based on 1 to 5 stars. For example if the rating is Good (4 stars), the landlord has a good score compared to others surveyed.

2009-02-09 ![]() Fitler Commons is a very nice building in a great location, and I love my apartment. However, the maintenance department is slow to respond to requests, and often requires multiple calls before service is scheduled. Also, switching roommates when renewing my lease was quite an ordeal. Michael Singer refused to refund my previous landlord`s security deposit, and instead insisted that my new roommate reimburse my old roommate, instead of giving the new security deposit directly to Michael Singer. 2008-11-22 ![]() Heating is a major problem-- it`s either freezing or boiling. The heating system for the building is really old & there is only one thermostat for the whole building, so there actually isn`t much to do about it except updating the heating system, which the landlord is unwilling to do. 2008-11-18 ![]() Generally MSRE is great, however, there are a few very unprofessional and hostile people working in the office who yell at you when you call with maitenence requests. The pest control is amazingly good. Recycling would be wonderful! Back to top | |||
