MEANINGFUL SCORING: STAR RATING vs RAW vs ALL
Each category, question or landlord has a star rating that reflects how they compare to ALL surveys for the current date period. For example, a landlord may score a RAW average of 4.54 but that will not necessarily yield an excellent 5 star RATING. The star RATING reflects the comparison of the RAW average to the average of ALL surveys using some fraction of the standard deviation. For example, if the ALL surveys average is 3.5662, with st. dev. 1.4082, you actually need a RAW average of ~4.63 or higher for a 5 stars RATING.

Basically, you should interpret the RATING as Poor, Fair, Average, Good or Excellent based on 1 to 5 stars. For example if the rating is Good (4 stars), the landlord has a good score compared to others surveyed.

- Excellent building, everything is great - views, doormen, location etc. Rent is a bit high, but you pay what you get for. - I did not go through Alan Domb, but used Craigslist. I found this route more useful than going through Domb.

great place to live in terms of location, quality, cleanliness, safety. i love the apartment. frustrating in terms of getting little things like faucet fixed, and 1 of 2 elevators in building has been broken for 3 months, and they said they`d bring recycling bins to floor and never had despite requests.

Electric appliances are more than 30 years old (they all work but too old). Carpets, air conditioners, and plumbing were in the worst conditions when we moved in. Only location and safety you can trust.

I could not be happier with the Wanamaker House. The staff is SO friendly--they all know my name (out of hundreds of residents) while I still struggle to remember theirs! My friends have commented on the security of the building; no one gets by that they don`t recognize. The floor is quiet, and when I needed some repairs done, the building staff was right on it and called to let me know what was going on with them (as one repair needed him to come back a second time). Love the building, and do not want to leave! As for Allan Domb... I haven`t had any problems with them, though I`ve heard they`ve been hard to deal with in the past. I wasn`t impressed with the company they hired to do the carpet, and they weren`t very responsive to getting it cleaned to my expectations (because the Wanamaker House has a weird thing with its vents where a little bit of dirt builds up on the carpet along wall edges), but on all other repairs they were extremely helpful. I really can`t complain.

This is a great building for its price and location as I have a very large apartment with new amenities. However, one of the two elevators has not been fixed and will probably not be fixed for a while. It has not been a huge inconvenience though.

allan domb is a little pricey and they are slow to respond but it was worthwhile for me to use them so that I could get into this bldg.
